Welcome to the Caring for our Country consultation website!
The public consultation on Caring for our Country closed on 15 August 2012. Thank you to all those who provided submissions, participated in the online forum and were involved in face to face consultation meetings.
Over the next few months we will be looking at ways to integrate many of the ideas and comments that we received. We are expecting to finalise program arrangements in the coming months to enable funding to commence from July 2013.

Consultation Summary
Thanks again to everyone who contributed their thoughts, suggestions, ideas and feedback to the public consultation that took place from 21 June to 15 August 2012. The Government is currently working through the information collected and developing the program design for the next five years of Caring for our Country.
We have compiled a short summary of the main issues that were raised through the consultation. You can download this document from our library.
Further details on how we will be using this feedback in the design of the second phase of Caring for our Country is expected by the end of the year.

WA Regional Consultations
Nine consultation meetings were held in WA regional areas between 23 July and 3 August 2012. Participants included approximately 150 stakeholders from community, Indigenous, sustainable agriculture, environment and other groups.

Queensland Consultations
Caring for our Country consultation meetings were held in Brisbane on 31 July and 1 August. The meetings provided a great opportunity for Australian Government officers to hear how the initiative has been received in Queensland. We had a great turn out and heard from a wide range of our stakeholders. Discussion topics included:

Tasmania Consultations
On 17 July, Australian Government officers met with a range of stakeholders in Hobart to discuss aspects of the design and delivery of the next phase of Caring for our Country. South Australia Consultations
Australian Government officers were in Adelaide on 26 and 27 July to continue consultations on the next phase of Caring for our Country. Participants in meetings held across the two days included representatives from a number of South Australian Government departments, natural resource management (NRM) boards, industry groups, non-government organisations and Indigenous groups.

ACT & NSW Consultations
On 24 July, Australian Government officers consulted with ACT and NSW stakeholder groups including state and territory government, local government, regional NRM organisations, Indigenous, community and industry groups.

Northern Territory Consultations
On 16 and 17 July, Australian Government officers were in Darwin to talk about the design of the next phase of Caring for our Country and to gain insight into the key challenges faced by stakeholders in the Northern Territory. Participants included representatives from industry groups, government, NGOs and Indigenous organisations from across the Northern Territory.

Victoria Consultations
Australian Government Land and Coasts officers were in Melbourne on 9 and 10 July to consult stakeholders about the design for the next phase of Caring for our Country.
Stakeholders participating included representatives from state government agencies and coastal boards, Catchment Management Authorities, non-government organisations, Indigenous organisations, community networks and groups and industry organisations.
